Job Title:
Senior Field Systems Engineer (FSE)
Location: San Jose, CA, United States
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
Ocarina is an exciting, fast paced, well funded (Kleiner
Perkins and Highland Capital), Silicon Valley start up with a breakthrough
solution for application-aware storage optimization.
The Senior Field Systems Engineer (FSE) will provide
pre-sales and post-sales technical support for customers and strategic
partners, and will manage all technical activities during the sales
cycle. In addition, the FSE will participate in local and regional
seminars, and act as the technical account manager for existing
customers. The
FSE will partner with a Senior Account Manager to develop
an account base and meet assigned sales quotas in a defined territory.
This highly visible role is critical to the success of
our product introduction, customer adoption, and company
overall.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install and manage customer evaluations and
assist sales team in converting to revenue
- Deliver technical presentations and conduct hands on demonstrations
for customers and partners
- Assess customer requirements and infrastructure and design appropriate
solutions
- Develop technical responses to RFls and RFPs
- Develop relationships with customer technical personnel and drive
incremental projects
- Provide customer and market input to Product
Management, Engineering, & Customer
Support
- Develop white papers, technical briefs, case studies and other
tools to be leveraged
- Represent Ocarina at trade shows and industry conferences
- Stay current on major industry trends, competition, and relevant
technologies.
- Act as a focal point for technical post-sales escalation for current
customers
- Work with the QA and testing organization
- Travel within the assigned territory
Skills:
- Desire to learn new technologies and complete
"hands-on" work
with Ocarina solutions as well as other relevant
technologies
- Extensive hands on experience with common operating systems (Linux,
UNIX, and Windows) and deep understanding of storage protocols such
as NFS and CIFS
- Hands on experiences with installation, integration and troubleshooting
storage systems
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Self-motivated, energetic, customer oriented, resourceful and enthusiastic
Education & Experience:
- 4+ years of industry experience
- BS/BA in CS/EE highly desired
- Strong storage and networking experience
