Job Summary:
Ocarina Networks has a newly created position for a Lead Functional Test Engineer for its line of storage optimization appliances. This engineer will lead a small group in black-box testing of custom-configured Ocarina appliances, report results, and suggest new methods of improving test processes. The successful candidate will have the hands-on technical expertise and leadership experience to inspire, motivate, and drive a small group.
Responsibilities include writing and executing functional test plans in both Linux and Windows environments. This position affords close interaction with our development teams to resolve issues identified during functional testing. Ocarina’s storage optimization appliances are to be deployed in a myriad of customer storage environments in conjunction with multiple NAS, SAN, and RAID hardware from different vendors; thus, the functional test plan in anticipation of each customer deployment will be unique. This position affords the opportunity to work with a wide variety of storage hardware, along with many different networking, clustering, replication, and backup strategies
This position requires:
- Storage testing experience, especially with NAS, but also with any or all of SAN, clustering, replication, RAID, and backup strategies. The successful candidate will understand clustering and know its typical issues.
- Experience configuring, troubleshooting and operating storage in a Linux environment.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot Perl scripts.
- Ability to conduct disciplined testing of product versions in multiple storage environments.
- Windows experience is a plus.
Additional attributes which would be attractive, and useful in this role, include:
- File system testing experience.
- Performance testing experience.
- Other operating systems: Solaris, Windows 2000.
- L2 and L3 networking (routing, VLANs).
