Job Description:

Ocarina is looking for a User Interface Designer who has a track record of creating well thought out, easy to use, industry leading user interfaces and Web Applications used to manage hardware systems. The candidate will be a key member of a team that will design and implement the next generation of Ocarina’s File Aware Storage Optimization line of products.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the design of the user interface, be a champion for creating easy to use, customer focused interfaces
• Work closely with system, control and data path engineers to translate product capabilities into customer centered workflows
• Work closely with product management and gain a deep understanding of target customers and their needs
• Ensure product meets high standards of usability and design excellence
• Organize and manage activities necessary to validate the usability of Ocarina’s GUIs
• Hands on development required for parts of the GUI
• Create mock-ups and wire-frames for new UI screens

Required Skills

• Minimum of 7 years experience designing and implementing Web based user interfaces
• Very creative possesses a combination of creativity, design passion, and skill
• Hands on experience developing with HTML and CSS
• Experience with SQLite, bash, perl is a plus
• Strong with Photoshop
• Able to take concepts and ideas and turn them into mockups and/or interactive prototypes
• Successfully designed and participated in development for various hardware appliances: Switches, Routers, Storage System, etc.
• Experience developing interfaces for storage systems is a strong plus
• Track record of being a key contributor at previous companies
• Early stage start-up experience required

Education Required

• BS in CS, or BA or BFA in a design related field or equivalent industry experience
